T.A.B. - Movie Review: Violet & Daisy

Was invited by a special someone to watch Violet & Daisy together, movie preview at Cathay Platinum Movie Suites! This is my first time watching a movie with such comfy service and seats.. I truly enjoyed the experience!

These are the complimentary snacks. We can of course, order more stuffs to eat while movie is screening.

Alright, back to the movie review :P

Genre: Action/Crime/Humor/Thriller
Classification: N16
Runtime: 88 minutes / 1 hr 28 mins

Directed by Geoffrey Fletcher, casting Alexis Bledel and Saoirse Ronan, the movie started off in a church with two ladies, Violet & Daisy, who are assassins, shooting off and rescuing as part of their mission objectives. Later on, they recevied another new mission, so as to earn some quick bucks to support their favorite idol's brand apparel. But it all went out of track upon receiving this mission, which resulted in a game of comedies and thrills.

My Thoughts

Some things you wouldn't see as in an assassination, unexpectedly shows up in this movie, which brought lots of twists and laughters off. The whole plot focus on the last misson to assassinate a target, Michael (acted by the late James Gandolfini), who was not home at that time. Falling into deep sleep while waiting, target came back home unsurprised, and instead covered them with blanket, making snacks for them while still asleep. Funny part was target even told them where to purchase ammunition since they have ran out of bullets, which then lead to a finding of another group of killers heading to the same location to kill. Through some understanding, Violet & Daisy found it hard to finish off the target, but reluctantly have to, due to their job and request of the target who was examined to have contracted cancer.

What seems to be an action-packed movie, only happens in the beginning. One can expect more humor between the interaction of both girls and the target. I greatly encouraged giving this movie a watch!

P.S.: James Gandolfini acted in Violet & Daisy during year 2011, and passed away in June 2013.

Homemade - Egg Tarts

Decided to bake egg tarts for snack during the weekend.

Egg tarts ain't complicated to bake, but rather more time-consuming due to the baking process. And there is one simple recipe I have gotten, enough to make about 20 quantities, depending on the size of your cup liner!

Making the Crust
225g Plain Flour
125g Butter
55g Icing Sugar
1 Egg (whisked)
A dash of Vanilla Extract

Making the Custard
225g Hot Water
110g Caster Sugar
85g Evaporated Milk
3 Eggs
1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract

First step is to make the crust.

Without an electric blender, I made use of a whisk to mix the softened butter and icing sugar together. Once they are thoroughly mixed, pour in whisked egg and a dash of vanilla extract, and blend again.

Platypus Test Kitchen

Hidden in a secluded corner in Clifford Centre, Platypus Test Kitchen is one of the concept out of three, where Test Kitchen focus on pasta & risotto, Platypus Family Dining and Platypus Kitchen, focusing on family and children-friendly meals, and bistro respectively.

Being the pioneer restaurant, they keep this branch as special as possible! As the name suggests, this is the place to try out their latest creations and innovations for pastas and risottos.

Simple ordering process and food comes relatively fast to your table too. Provided with a table tag, bring it along to your table from the cashier and wait to be served.

The King Louis Grill and Bar - Chapter Reopen

I have visited The King Louis Grill and Bar previously, on my own accord to try out their food, and was kinda disappointed.

When I was invited for food tasting, to be honest.. I was pretty hesitant. But I decided to give them another try since it's a weekday, and my workplace is just nearby. The PR helped us to order their signature dishes, thus I am not quite able to identify the names of the dishes...

Heading straight to the food, we had the Mushroom Soup ($8.90). As described by the PR, this soup consists of five mushrooms, and I find it thick and taste is just right! "Drenched" my bread with the soup, and it was down my stomach in seconds :P

Magnum Singapore Pleasure Store, Clarke Quay (27 July 2013 - 26 August 2013)

Quite a prominent pop-up store, pub-goers should have seen this since 27 July 2013. Perhaps, Magnum "addictors" too? :P

Coincidentally, 27 July was also the launch date for Magnum Black & Pink, which I have yet to get my hands on :(

Running Man - Gangnam Korean BBQ Restaurant

Known by many as Gangnam Korean BBQ Restaurant. But signboard states Running Man instead. Thinking that I could have missed it, was I lucky to have stopped and look at what Running Man has to offer... It is in fact, this very shop.. being Gangnam as the branch!

Eighteen Chefs

Wanted to eat sushi recently, and realized it was long gone, and replaced by Eighteen Chefs. With such unexpected finding, I researched about it, and told myself, "I should try it!".
