Eatzi Gourmet Bakery (JP Pepperdine)

Mid-Autmn Festival is probably just a month away, but mooncakes are on sale everywhere, in restaurants, bakeries and even markets.

Under JP Pepperdine Group, Eatzi Gourmet Bakery has a load of mooncakes for sale, in view of the upcoming festival, celebrating the festive joy with Singaporeans! In the control of Chef Chai, every single mooncake is handcrafted to ensure consistency and better quality assurance.

Packaging of the mooncake is quite Chinese-based, yet scaled with bronze-colored design to instill a tinge of modernized feel in a traditional Chinese festive.

They have 5 types of mooncakes, sadly without my favorite snow-skin ones. Nonetheless, tradition ones are less hassle, by jut keeping at room temperature, fresher, and generally well-liked by most generations. Best of all, tradition mooncake and tea is a good combination! For order details, you may refer to the order chit.

Eatzi Gourmet Bakery has it packed in box of 4 ($42.80), as a standard. In this box, I have the Chocolate Lotus, Mocca Royaltine, Green Tea Lotus, and Black Sesame Lotus, sealed and packed neatly in a vertical packaging. It serve well as a gift for others, as well as assurance to hygiene concerns.

None of the 4 has any yolk, which is one of the highlight I looked forward in every Mooncake Festival I attended. But each of these have their own twist to substitute the missing yolk!

Chocolate Lotus ($10.70), is not merely plain chocolate lotus paste. Added is the sweet crunchy pearls and the twist lies in the mango pineapple fillings! Chocolate paste is bitter in the initial taste, which I believe is made of dark chocolate, and then the sweetness from the fillings to compensate the chocolatey-bitter taste.

Mocca Royaltine ($10.70) is made of Coffe Lotus Paste, with addition of crunchy praline croquant. Overall taste is quite coffee-ish, and the difference that highlight Mocca Royaltine is the "sandy"-texture fillings from the praline croquant. Might be a favorite for the coffee-lovers!

Green Tea Lotus ($10.70). Ever since I knew that Green Tea has been introduced in Singapore, there's are geen tea ice cream, green tea drink, green tea sweets etc. circulating in the market. Hence, a Green Tea Mooncake does not seem surprising at all too (not as though there isn't any green tea mooncakes previously).

A Green Tea Lotus mooncake consists of crunchy crunchy pearls, and then the sesame mochi! If you like mochi, Green Tea Lotus is a must go-for. Erasing the traditional egg yolk in the middle, which crushes easily, Eatzi Gourmet Bakery has it replaced with mochi, which gives the mooncake a little more "fun" with the longer chewing and enjoyment of the soft and springy mochi.

Black Sesame Lotus ($10.70). Nothing special except for the thin layer of green tea mochi fillings. But definitely have to emphasize on the strong black sesame lotus paste. If you are a sesame-lover, this is a must-take!

Of course, if you do not like such creations, they do have single yolk type, White Lotus ($10.70). It consists of walnut, single yolk and white lotus paste. Order in a box of 4 for the same price at $42.80. You may also mix and match any of the different mooncakes in a box of 4, if one box of the same mooncake is too boring for you! Furthermore, Eatzi Gourmet Mooncakes are halal and how great it is to be able to share and enjoy this Chinese festive with your non-Chinese friends!

With such delicious honey-infused oven baked skin, and readily available at Jack's Place, Eastzi Gourmet, Restaurant Hoshigaoka, and Kkongdon Barbeque outlets, how can you resist?!
