Chongqing Chicken Hotpot 重庆鸡公煲

Had an impromptu dinner at Chongqing Chicken Hotpot, along the stretch of Jalan Besar. Nicely situated slightly opposite the popular Swee Choon Dim Sum.

They have both indoor and outdoor seating. "Space-y" tables and generous walkway between tables, does not "indulge" you in more heat coming from other diner's pot!

One-piece menu, featuring various hotpots of different sizes and spiciness. We ordered the chicken hotpot, medium size, and mild spicy as we thought it might be too spicy for us to handle.

Their Chongqing Chicken Hotpot medium-sized ($25.80) hotpot is suitable for a pax of 2-3, which is pretty sufficient for stomach of 2, in my situation. Although we ordered mild spciy, but it wasn't spicy at all. Rather, it is sweet and we can literally finish up the whole pot! This also explains how delicious it is.

The chicken hotpot does not come with any rice or noodles, but these are listed in the add-ons menu. We ordered Plain Rice ($0.80), Deep Fried Tofu Skin ($1.60), Luncheon Meat ($2.50), Pork Slices ($3.00) and Maggie Mee ($2.00). We practically dump all the sides in and mixed it up.

The result! Cooked everything together, and once ready, we can chopstick everything into our bowl! It isn't the best of what we could have tasted elsewhere, but I love the soup which is strong and sweet. Isn't diluted and I can't help going for more scoops.

Shopfront may not look promising, but the service is satisfactory, and food is not what most would have expected and described in a word, lousy.

I would love to return back to try their chicken hotpot again, but this time ordering extra large pot, and taking risk to a higher level, the extra spicy! Hope it does not costs me a burn in my pocket for the countless drinks and red puffing lips.
