L'ATELIER de Joel Robuchon ~ Valentine's Day 2016 ~

L'ATELIER de Joel Robuchon affiliation with Joël Robuchon, focus more on creativity such as experimenting and crafting innovative dishes.

Despite that, L'ATELIER de Joel Robuchon does have a menu, and not entirely a omakase concept.

Situated just side-by-side, its dark and simplicity of the exterior gives a mystery feel to it, matching the hidden expectations we had when walking in.

It was during Valentine's Day when we went, and they had specially planned 2 seatings for the night, so as to have a more organised dining experience for both the chefs and diners. Afterall, Resort World Sentosa isn't really considered a very convenient place to come to.

Diners were arranged to be seated at the counter seats, thereby letting diners watch in amuse at how the kitchen worked, before seeing your food being served right in front of your eyes. In my opinion, this could result in a more stressful environment for the chefs having been scrutinised by the public. However such concept as introduced by Mr Robuchon, is to create more interaction among both parties, and in a way will improve the craft of the chefs.

The service and attitude of each service crew deserved to be applaud, when smiles and attentiveness seems to be the pivot point of their service standard. Being in what looks like a atas restaurant, such service tends to bring down the tense atmosphere and therefore making the dining action more relaxing.

We were given a choice to have the ala-carte menu or the Valentine's Day menu on that day, and seeing how affordable the festive menu is, we decided to choose just that. While my companion is a non-beef taker, L'ATELIER de Joel Robuchon is considerate enough to change the beef dish out and requesting the chef to create another dish on the spot. At least, that's what we were told and let the chef craft something out for my companion after highlighting to them about your food allergy or dietary.

As usual in all course menu, the bread with butter which can be request separately. I would say the bread ain't any plain-taste kind. Even without the butter, it's good to eat as it is.

At the top of the menu proper, L'Amuse-Bouche, which is foie gras custard with red porto wine and parmesan foam.

Le Kampachi is kampachi tartare with spicy avocado guacamole. I like the presentation which seems like farming with plants growing out of the mashed avocado.

L'oeuf de Poule is ancini pasta carbonara style, with slow cooked egg and aged parmesan cheese.

Le Boeuf is grilled Wagyu beef striploin steak with confit of shallots. As I was asked, I requested for the rare and it was simply wonderful. It also comes with a small portion of mashed potato which is finely mashed, and it's so different from those I had tried before. You can almost imagine having a spoonful of mayonnaise but taste is of potato.

I was so looking forward to the dessert when I saw it served to other diners. Le Coeur Valentin made of pistachio strawberry vacherin style.

As with the festive, the pastry chef has it shaped into a heart shape, wrapped with a thick layer of whatever it is in glossy red. It's kind of like eating ice cream with tons of sweet taste swarming on your tastebud. I love it!

It wasn't long after, and we had the last course in the menu, Le Cafe - Le The. It is a pair of macaron to be shared among the couple.

Total cost of the menu is $188++ per couple which is super worth it! With the taste and dining experience, I feel that the price does not justify it very well.

Each course was served after another, thus you will not feel overwhelmed by the dishes forming on your table, and so was the interval which gives you sufficient time to digest and anticipate the next item to come along.

I would say this Valentine's Day dinner is one of the most delicious meal I had, and I wouldn't reject the idea of dining at L'ATELIER de Joel Robuchon again.
